History

From the commemorative publication for the 25th anniversary of the association in 1986:

The fifties were, one may well say, one of the highlights in the now almost one hundred year history of motorsport. For those who were able to experience it, it will probably remain unforgettable when half a million enthusiasts came to a motorcycle world or European championship race, or to a mountain race with about one hundred thousand spectators. There had never been so many motorized two-wheelers as at that time. At the end of the fifties, motorcycling seemed to be only something for the incorrigible or something for those who could not afford a car, be it one with three or four wheels. It was precisely at this time that the most adventurous constructions were made. The automobiles were hard to beat in terms of ingenuity and adventure. The main thing was not to get wet. The two-wheeled vehicles, which were still so popular some time ago, were parked in barns or sheds. Most of them probably went to the scrap yard.

Foundation of the motor sport club

However, there were still men who remained passionate and eager to dedicate themselves to two-wheel sports. So it happened that on the 1st Saturday of November 1960 a group of 11 younger men met in the inn “Zur Linde” – Walter Ackerhans – in Fürstenhagen to found a motor sport club.

Those present at the time were: Walter Ackerhans, Ernst Brauns, Otto Breuker, Karl Holz, Helmut Kotzur, Arnold Kubiza, Karl Meyer, Richard Sonsalla, Helmut Schäfer, Heinrich Sustrate, Günter Schlieper.

The name of the association should be MSC “Weserbergland”. An inquiry at the ADAC and the local court showed that a motorsport club with this name already exists in Höxter, thereupon the club got the name MSC “Weser-Solling” Fürstenhagen. In order to join an umbrella organisation, contacts were made with the ADAC and the DMV. At the December meeting in 1960, the DMV already sent its secretary and managing director of the Lower Saxony regional group to be available to the young association with advice and action. During this meeting Gerhard Latta, Herbert Ahrend and Heinrich Kürbis joined the MSC. In the course of this meeting a decision was made about the acceptance of the DMV model statutes and the entry into the German Motorsport Association. The assembly of 1961 in the month of January was declared the ordinary general assembly. A board of directors was elected, the statutes were officially adopted, an entry in the register of associations was decided and an application was made to the district court. Günter Schlieper was elected 1st chairman. Karl Meyer became 2nd chairman and sports director, Heinrich Sustrate treasurer, Richard Sonsalla secretary and Walter Ackerhans 1st auditor.
