Misprint – A Little Anecdote

Misprint – A little anecdote

There are a lot of stories around the Fürstenhagen Night Trial. We do not want to withhold an anecdote from you any longer:

A few years ago, there was a change in the board of directors at the MSC. The new first chairman, whom we will only call T. K. from H. for the sake of discretion, was not exactly known as a fervent supporter of trial sport. The extensive preparations for the upcoming night trial had already strained his nerves. Especially the wording of his greeting had caused him sleepless nights. When the program booklets arrived from the printing house on Friday before the evening of the event, he opened the sealed boxes and turned to the first page: while looking at his greeting, the colour first drained from his face, and then he lost his composure. The floor opened…

Instead of the serious passport photo that had been given to the printing house, our first chairman looked at a reflection of himself, marked by excessive consumption of alcohol. But it was not enough that such an embarrassing photo was printed in a thousand programs. No, the text also seemed to be written in a drunken stupor. Even today, after a few years, it does not seem advisable to reproduce excerpts from this work.

When T.K. from H. woke up again after several minutes of paralysis, he took the next copy out of the box. The worst fears came true: the following booklets also contained the absurd photography and the terrible greeting.

In the meantime, other members had also pounced on the freshly printed booklets and erupted in horror. Initial suspicions about the possible causes of this catastrophe were raised. But all considerations ended in paralysing helplessness until some people lost their body control and broke out in loud laughter.

The enlightenment was not long in coming: ten booklets had been deliberately misprinted to tease the good T.K. from H. So these ten, otherwise completely normal program booklets became the “Blue Mauritius” of the MSC Weser-Solling e.V.

Why we are telling you this particular story: It makes clear how much fun we have again and again with the organization of our night trial.
